Adventure
Lantern Hollow
★★★★☆ 4.4
Lantern Hollow is a quiet adventure game where you guide a small traveler through a dimming valley, relighting old lanterns and uncovering what happened there. It's light on combat and heavy on atmosphere, and it earns the mood with lovely hand-painted scenes.
Movement is tap-to-walk, and puzzles mostly involve rerouting light and water to open paths forward. Nothing is brutally hard, but a couple of mid-game puzzles made us genuinely pause and think. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting.
It's short, maybe four hours, and that length suits it. We'd rather have a tight, memorable adventure than a padded one, and this is firmly the former.
What we liked
- Beautiful hand-painted art
- Calm, thoughtful puzzles
- Respectfully short runtime
