Arcade games built for two-minute breaks
Not every game needs to swallow an evening. Some of the best mobile experiences are the ones that respect a two-minute window, let you do one satisfying thing, and release you back into your life.
Arcade and casual games live or die on this. If opening the app means sitting through loading screens, a splash video, and three pop-ups before you can play, the whole point is gone. The best ones put you in action within a second or two.
I've started scoring games partly on how quickly I can start and stop. A clean pause, a fast resume, and no punishment for leaving mid-session all matter more than people admit. Legends of Slots does this well, and so does Skyport Tycoon in its own way.
If you're building a short-break rotation on your phone, pick two or three games with different textures: one twitchy, one calm, one thinky. Variety keeps any single one from going stale.
