Turn-based RPGs feel right at home on phones

There's a reason turn-based RPGs have thrived on mobile. The pace matches the device. You can think a move through, tap it, and the game waits for you, which is perfect when your attention is split.

Emberfall Saga is the one that reminded me of this recently. Its stagger system wants you to plan, and because it's turn-based, planning never feels rushed. Big readable buttons do the rest.

The trick these games pull off is depth without reflexes. You get the satisfaction of a hard-won fight without needing perfect timing, which means you can play on a bumpy bus and still perform well.

My advice: don't skip the tutorials in RPGs even if you're a genre veteran, because mobile RPGs often hide one clever system that changes everything. In Emberfall it was the break window, and I wasted two hours before I understood it.
